Lawrence Hershon’s practice focuses on construction, commercial litigation, and business disputes, but his workload covers a broad range of matters, from helping general contractors, architects and engineers navigate large projects to resolving disputes, including litigation, when necessary. He also helps his clients with a variety of business transactions.
“For many attorneys, law is a specialization world, and I think there is still a lot of room for lawyers who provide a broader area of practice,” he says. And while he is happy to represent his clients in court, he most enjoys helping them find solutions to their problems before they get into litigation.
Hershon is the Columbia office development partner at Parker Poe. He joined the firm in 2008 after earning his law degree from the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude. He also has an International MBA from USC and Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Before entering law school, he was a staff assistant for the U.S. Senate Budget Committee. Hershon enjoys volunteering in his community, most notably with Homeless No More, an organization that provides housing assistance to needy families. He previously served on the organization’s board, helping negotiate contracts and volunteering to help with business matters for the organization. Hershon is inspired to go to work each day for opportunities to help his clients. “My main driving force is knowing that someone is trusting me to help them, and I feel the need to live up to that level of trust,” he says.
